About Me

My Services

Hi! I'm Amy.  I grew up in a small town in Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University. (Go Cyclones!)  I have 4 beautiful girls ranging in age from 4 to 13.  I enjoy playing games, reading novels (mostly Christian fiction), taking walks and watching movies.  However, through the years I have discovered that my truly happy place is when I am sewing.

I learned to sew from my grandma and in high school but it was not until after college that I really started sewing a lot.  I created my first t-shirt quilt about 20 years ago thanks to a dear friend teaching me how.  From there I started creating pattern quilts for my friends and family.  I did not start quilting until a couple of years ago.  Since I do not have a long arm sewing machine, learning to quilt on my regular Singer sewing machine has been both challenging and rewarding at the same time.  I have learned that it takes a little bit of time and a whole lot of patience but the sense of accomplishment once it is completed is so worth it.  Not to mention the result makes the quilt look and feel so much better.

About 3 years ago I bought my first embroidery machine.  I knew nothing about how it worked, but I was determined to figure it out and start creating personalized items for my girls.  It was so exciting to put that first "G" on one of my hand towels!  From there my ability has grown into being confident that I can personalize just about anything that can be sewn on.

Starting a business like That's Sew Amyzing has been a goal for a couple of years now.  I am so excited that all of the pieces are finally falling into place.  I look forward to being able to share my abilities in creating unique items that will not only preserve your memories, but also hopefully, create new ones!
